Table of Web Hosts

The following is a table of web hosts.  Included in the table is the website address, the monthly fees that the hosts charge, any setup fees, the server speed, and whether or not it supports Microsoft FrontPage extensions.  I suggest you check them all out before making a decision.  Different hosts cater to different people's needs.  Some will have a certain number of free POP accounts, easy ways to upload, etc. that I can't summarize in a table.  I'm just giving what I feel to be the most important information, and the easiest to put into a table format.  I did notice in my searching that the prices weren't always easy to find, and often varied depending on size, frontpage extension support, and amount of file transfer per month.  OK, you can go through that list if you want to, BUT HOSTBABY.COM is by far the best webhost for musicians.  They're the ones hosting this site.  It is $20 per month, so you have to be serious about your web presence, but you get 500 megs of space, PLUS a free mailing list (I used to pay for an outside company to do mailing lists, and it wasn't as easy to use as this one, nor did it have a predesigned form to make it easy for fans to sign up online), a free concert calendar (you can choose to have it leave up your old gigs, or just post your upcoming ones) with a form that you fill out, and it uses php to automatically put it in an easy to read format, and you'll never forget important details since they are on the form.  You can also add comments in addition to the form.  It also has a built in guestbook.  So, go to www.hostbaby.com and sign up.  Oh yes, they'll transfer your domain for you, and if you are signing up for a new website, such as yourband.net, instead of paying $35 (and $70 to sign up) a year, it's just $10 a year through hostbaby.  Lastly, it's free to try for the first month.  They don't bill you unless you like it after that point.

If you've checked out all of these sites, or have skimmed the table, and not really found a web host for you, visit www.tophosts.com because they will have more detailed information on each, including a report card for the individual webhosts.  They specialize in reviewing webhosts, so they will be more comprehensive than this page, but I thought I'd put this table up for quicker finding of what you need, and to give a brief idea of what the average good web host costs, etc.   www.hostindex.com also will have a lot of information on webhosts, and will likely be more up-to-date than I am on them.
