The purpose of this links page is to give more resources to underground musicians and the webmasters or underground music sites. Most of these sites will have at least something fairly valuable free.

CDBaby.net - all sorts of articles on promoting your music, etc. the musician's backdoor to CDBaby.com
www.folk.org - I didn't know where else to put this, but it's the folk alliance, so if you're a folk musician, check it out
garageband.com - helps promote independent musicians by having them review each other, and uploading mp3s, giving free artist websites, etc. Please email me and let me know what your experiences are with garageband, if you have any. I might release a new issue, with garageband being one of the focuses of it, and could use some information on the site.

www.gogirlsmusic.com - I'm not a woman, so I don't have any experience with using the service, but I know many of my visitors are; just as, I'm not a folk musician, so I know nothing about folk.org, but I know many of my visitors are.
Hotmail - web-based free email
Indie Contact Bible - great promotional tool, includes listings of thousands of radio stations.

IndieRec.com Provide record label type services for indie musicians (haven't thoroughly checked them out)
musicSUBMIT.com - will submit your music to 200+ music related websites, internet radio stations, music writers, online music magazines, and to over 5,000 email subscribers looking for new musicMusician's Atlas - use in conjunction with the indie bible, use the atlas to book the show, and the bible to promote it
SiteOwner.com - many free resources, including free check on search engine positioning, free submittal to 7 of the top search engines, analyzes efficiency of graphics on your website, etc.
Starpolish - articles to help musicians
Submit it - for a fee they submit your URL, but they also have other services, one of which is similar to webposition below

Underground Beat - London based "underground music" scene
USA Songwriting Competition - The USA Songwriting Competition is the world's leading international songwriting contest, offering fifteen song categories. Winners will be selected by a Blue Ribbon judging committee consisting of music industry judges such as record labels ,publishers, producers and performing rights organizations. The site features monthly songwriter and artists spotlight as well as a Songwriter/Indie Artist resource and links page.
Web Position - has a free trial version which shows your search engine ranking in a handful of search engines. The full version generates a report based on many more search engines. I tried it a few years ago to promote Underground Music Monthly, and it definitely helped me increase my visitors. I will likely use it again now that Underground Music Monthly has moved, and see if I can improve the ranking for MissionMan.net as well.
Web Promote - helpful articles for promoting your website
Web Site Garage - rates site in 7 categories and gives specific suggestions on how to improve your rating. categories include load time, register it readiness (search engine readiness), link popularity, html design, dead links, browser compatability, and one other I can't remember right now
