Search Engine Links

    The purpose of this list of Search Engines is to allow underground musicians to get as much exposure as possible.  Every site on here will be one I personally check out.  It will consist of the major search engines, and then whatever music search engines, trees, and links pages I find.  In addition, each site listed will have a way to submit your site to it, whether through a form, or email.   I will try to give a brief explanation of how to submit your site to each one next to the link for it.  I may not be able to do it for all of them because I only have so much free time to do this in.  I will also include a banner link to register-it.com for those who want to submit to massive amounts of search engines without having to take all that time.  The basic package there allows you to submit to 400 search engines for $60.  I believe it allows you to submit 2 URLs for that price, so you may try finding a friend who has a webpage as well, who will split the cost with you so you can submit both, and only costing you $30 apiece.  Finally, if there are any incorrect, invalid or expired links, email me.

Search Thingy - yes, the name of the site is search thingy.  It allows you to put in keywords, and choose from the top ten search engines for search purposes

Alta-vista - there is an add url link on the bottom of the page I believe.  It will index your site  within 24 hours.

Excite - add url link at bottom of page.  unknown index time, 2-3 weeks I believe.

Hot Bot - same as Excite

Infoseek - same as Hot Bot

JackIn4Beats.com - click on links section of page, and it tells you how to add yours, don't know how long it takes

Lycos - add your site to lycos link at bottom of page.   index time also about 2-3 weeks I believe

MonkeySweat - I can't figure out how, but I'm sure if you contact them, they'll let you know.

Starting Point - submit your site link at bottom lefthand of page

Webcrawler - add your url link at bottom of page.   index time same as others

Yahoo - find the specific category you think your site belongs in, and click the suggest a site                 link at bottom of that page.  index time 2.5-4 weeks.

I'm pretty sure that covers the major sites.  Now for the rest.  These will only be music search engines unless otherwise stated.

Argus music searcher - as far as I can tell, email the webmaster. 

All Music Guide - add artist/album link in middle of page

DIY search - add url link that leads to form, immediate indexing

Music Link Central - "submit link" link in middle of page, email notification of when you are                                      indexed

Music Search - add Sites link on panel on left side of page. 

http://www.themusiciansresource.com - scroll section on left, 3rd to last link from bottom, not sure on the index time, someone actually looks at the site before adding it

Netradioshowcase.com  - add url at top of site

I searched the internet for 4 hours, and only found 6 sites other than the ones I knew off of the top of my head that were worth posting here.  One of which (starting point), I had simply forgotten about.  I used to use it before altavista came along.   If anybody knows of more music search engines that are worth posting here, email me with the URL, and I'll check it out.   If it really is worth posting, I'll put it up.
