How to Get the most out of Underground Music Monthly

When I reloaded this site onto the web, I decided that there is so much information that it may be overwhelming for people.  That's why I decided to create the two most important pages on this site.  The first is the most important sites on the web for Independent Musicians.  This is the second.  It's a how-to use this page.

If you are looking to book gigs, go to my book gigs section, or go to http://www.indie-music.com.   While booking gigs, also check out the Music Events and Conferences page.  Of course, once you have the show booked, you need to promote it, and you can do that using the music media and college newspapers I have info on.

If you are ready to release a CD, and are looking for a CD manufacturer, go to my table of CD Manufacturers, or check out CDBaby.net's short list.

If you are looking for airplay to supplement your gigs, go to the Indie Radio Stations section.

If you want to be distributed, chances are you should just put your CD online.   Most truly independent musicians can't afford to have the 10,000s of CDs it takes to be successfully distributed.  If you are a regional or local band, you can probably just select a handful of record stores in your area that will put your CD on consignment.  To put your CD online go to my online CD stores section.  Make sure to put it on CDBaby.com first.

If you are ready to promote your CD, buy the Indie Bible and/or the Musicians Atlas

Also, check out web hosts, including www.hostbaby.com and after you establish a website, check out ways to get it into search engines and more using my other useful links.

If you're bored, go back to the main page, and click on some UMM issues.

Thanks, back to Underground Music Monthly
