I got the temp tags on my mini-van, finished loading everything up, and was very excited. I had been planning this trip for months, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen. I was a bit nervous about not having enough money for food or showers. I started with $166 in cash, $86 in the bank, and no credit cards, for a total of $252, with an estimated gas cost of $200 (I was expecting to drive 2200 miles, at around $2 per gallon, and 25 mpg; I actually ended up with 3300+ miles, at about $2.25 per gallon, and 23 mpg, so gas ended up over $300). I thought I had $52 for 16 days of food.
Starting mileage: 206,661
Ending mileage (for the day): 206,922
Total mileage (for the day): 261
I left Oxford at 4:13 pm, and arrived at Robin Hood in Kent, Ohio at 8:54 pm
On my drive out of town, I really thought about requesting "Dream On" by Aerosmith. I didn't call any radio stations, but within 5 minutes 92.5 FM, the Fox, played the song. I had no CD player, no mp3 player, and no satellite radio, so I was stuck with only conventional radio for the whole trip.
A little irony for the trip, Papa John's was directly across the street from Robin Hood, and Wendy's was on the other side. I mention Wendy's because I ate there quite a bit. $2 meals are possible there. 3 people officially came to see me (they ask at the door), my brother, my aunt (who drove 4 and a half hours, still the most surprising part of the trip to me), and her boyfriend. They stopped charging cover at midnight, though, and I met a few people who were there to see. Thanks Natalie, for the conversation, and the attempt at finding a 2337 that I like.
Strictly out of the generosity of the owner, I made $50 at this show. Thank you Jim, I really appreciate it.
I slept at my brother's house that night.
Onto Day 3
