I started Playing For a Cure in 2004 in order to honor my mom’s memory. The first one was held September 27th, 2004, the ten year anniversary of when she passed away. Even though I was only 15 when I lost her, she taught me things that will define me for the rest of my life. She worked harder than anyone I’ve ever known, whether she was starting her own business as a CPA, or going to school full time while in her 40s with 4 kids and 3 teaching jobs. Even though she worked as hard as anyone possibly can, her favorite moments were the times she spent with her family. She showed us a tremendous amount of love. It is these things that I will carry with me forever.
