Anniversary
I started rapping in October of 1992, so the CD will be released on the 14th anniversary of the month I started rapping.
Playing For a Cure
There are multiple reasons for the release date to be in October. The biggest reason is that Playing For a Cure is in September. Once I finish recording "Indiependent" (which I expect to be sometime between May 1st and July 15th), my focus will solely be on Playing For a Cure. In the last two years, I've dedicated a total of probably 350 hours (over the course of 3 months in 2004 and 2 months in 2005) and $1,400 to planning, promoting, and preparing for Playing For a Cure. This year, I plan on having it in 3 cities instead of just one.
Professionalism
Major label releases come out on Tuesdays, and October 10th is a Tuesday. October 3rd was still too close to September, and therefore too close to Playing For a Cure. October 17th was too much later. I also needed enough time to record my best CD, save up the $2,040 for the mastering and first pressing, and time to book a national tour to promote the release.
Chillin' at the Papa
October is a month for starting and quitting my job. I first started at PJ's in October, of 1998. That's a very long time to be at the same, seemingly meaningless, job. I quit the first time in January of 2001; my last day was the day before my 22nd birthday, and freedom was my present to myself. I was able to get enough financial aid to just go to school. I took 19 hours, and spent about 30 minutes a week on classwork outside of the classroom. I played a lot of pool that semester. Everyone should have the opportunity to go to school without working, and everyone should have to work at least one semester to understand what it's like. Anyway, I went back to PJ's in October 2001, as I ran out of money. I quit again in October of 2005 to pursue my dream of music, and went back in January 2006 when I ran out of money. This time, I want to quit working in October, for anyone, and live my dream.
M Squared on Ten Squared
Of course, as a side bonus, October 10th is 10-10, and therefore MM (Mission Man) on Ten Ten, or M Squared on Ten Squared. It should hopefully help you remember the release date.
